What was, made me who I am
When you think about describing yourself for a bio, you can approach it in so many different ways that I decided to leave out all formalities and present myself to you as I am, and not as a dry professional persona backed up by diplomas and certifications, because for me, life experience and "have walked the talk" is what really makes you relevant in what you do.
I am a lover of all things healthy, but that wasn't the case years ago. I was born in Venezuela, a country with a cult to beauty, so growing up I was one more girl in the quest of becoming the perfect Venezuelan specimen. I started dieting and starving myself from a young age, only to go back to an unhealthy weight shortly after. I tried every weight loss plan possible, focusing on the numbers in the scale but never paying attention to my health. When I was in college, after loosing 40 pounds, I ended up in the hospital, my digestive system was discombobulated. But that scare wasn't enough to show me the way.

Several years after I got pregnant with my first child and after yo-yoing, binging and starving continuously, I started to follow a different set of rules when it came to my health... I became vegetarian with the hope of learning to take better care of me and my young family, but little did I know, more that a decade ago, that you can be an unhealthy vegetarian.
You see, social media was not strong at that time, so if you wanted to investigate a topic, you would need to read and go to conferences. I was living in a different country and to be honest, having a baby was overwhelming without the addition of pursuing new interests, but little by little I found a way and by the time my little one started with solids, we were having a diet based on more natural food and less pre-packaged faux proteins.
Since old habits die hard, I tried my last diet two years after I had my first born: Ideal protein was the perfect end of a road filled with weight watchers, nutritionist prescribed diets and supplements, Atkins, South beach diet and much more. I wanted to be in top shape before trying for a second pregnancy without thinking about being in perfect balance between my mind, body and soul.
I started meditating right along the time I became a vegetarian and the meditations came with an on and off yoga practice that helped me have two nice natural birth and extended breastfeeding experiences. When my awareness increased I started to follow my instincts and finally did what I needed: I started to exercise regularly, meditate frequently and eating fresh produce and home cooked meals whenever I had a chance.
After almost a decade of small but impactful, changes my weight and blood work has remain in top shape... well that until a couple of years ago when I got diagnose with Breast Cancer.
I underwent surgery and treatment following a strict protocol of fruits and vegetables on a daily basis for breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with the regular chemotherapy and radiation treatments. I have to report that with the advise of a nutritionist and the knowledge I gained getting a certification as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, I recuperated quick.
After my experience, I have been dedicating my energy to share information about the benefits of nourishing our bodies with real foods and good energies in order to thrive in our daily endeavors, having more energy, maintaining a healthy weight and introducing families to the pleasures of healthy eating with proposals for people with food restrictions, food preferences, animal lover and animal eaters alike.
So there you have it, this is me. I would love to get to know and work for YOU!
